Wilmington Friends School is a Preschool to 12 Quaker, college preparatory, day school located in Wilmington, Delaware and enrolling approximately 720 students.
We are seeking an educator who has experience teaching music in an educational setting and a passion for encouraging creativity, fostering musical, social-emotional, and spiritual growth. The position will be two days per week for approximately 5 hours per day.
Performing Arts Departmental Statement: The Wilmington Friends Performing Arts Department provides an exemplary arts education that encourages emotional, social, and spiritual growth through students' life-long participation, understanding, and support of the performing arts.  We nurture students' appreciation and understanding of the tools, skills, and history of the performing arts, through a program that enhances students' independent thinking, collaborative skills, and cultural competency.  Students explore their talents, abilities, and values through creativity, self-discovery, and risk-taking as integral components of a complete and well-rounded education.
Responsibilities include: 
Immerse preschool and pre kindergarten classes, ages 2-5, in the world of music using songs, chants, movement activities, classroom instruments, and a variety of instructional materials, resources, and experiences. 
Collaborate with the lower school music teacher on curriculum and performances.
Prepare and lead a winter and spring preschool Informance.
Prepare and co-lead our annual pre-kindergarten/kindergarten winter and spring concerts. 
Coverage of preschool or pre kindergarten classrooms to support early years teachers.
A highly qualified candidate will:
be personally engaging and friendly. 
feel comfortable working with groups of children, ages 2-5. 
demonstrate strong vocal skills; playing an instrument is a plus.
create and implement developmentally appropriate lessons.
use good communication skills.
have experience teaching music in an educational setting. 
have a degree or certification in music education.
