Be the difference.Job SummaryUnder the direct and indirect supervision of the Pediatric Cardiologists and the clinical supervisor, provides echocardiographic imaging of the pediatric and adult patient with congenital heart disease. Facilitates continuity of quality care by interfacing with physician, nursing, child life, and hospital department staff. Ensures the effective and efficient delivery of quality diagnostic imaging and reporting for the patients medical record and treatment plan.AccountabilitiesSkillfully performs daily echocardiograms including, but not limited to, 2D, M-mode, color, Doppler, video and digital back-up including the provision of preliminary reporting of echo findings to physician after completion of study. 70%Performs advanced procedures with physician direction and support (such as, exercise and pharmacological stress echos, fetal echos, etc.) 5%Responsible for the complete documentation including echo worksheet, print-outs, logbook, charge sheets for billing, dubbing studies for interpretation/Cath/surgery consideration. 10%Completes daily operational procedures in the echo lab to ensure infection control, confidentiality and safety standards are met. 10%Participates in quality assurance and data collection for research, publication and internal auditing purposes. Possesses extensive knowledge and understanding of congenital heart disease, both basic and complex. Possesses a basic understanding and working knowledge of neonatal and adult cardiac anatomy, physiology and hemodynamics. 5%Supervisory/Management ResponsibilitiesThis is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.Minimum EducationPost High School education up to 18 months - Graduate of an accredited program or equivalent on the job training as accepted by credentialing organizations.Minimum ExperienceNo previous experience required, 6 - 12 months of experience preferred.Required Certifications/Registrations/LicensesRDCS - Registered Cardiac SonographerCPR CertificationSpecific Acceptable Credentials (if applicable)Registered Cardiac Sonographer by CCI or ARDMS credentialing by the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers.
