Job Overview: RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified full-time Echocardiograph Technician in Barnegat, NJ. This position performs a variety of invasive & non-invasive technical procedures that evaluate intra-cardiac disease, anatomy, and heart function. It requires independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the application of cardiac ultrasound testing for the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. The technician is required to participate in process improvement initiatives and assist in maintaining ICAEL Accreditation.
Qualifications: Required: Graduate of Cardiac Ultrasound Program, 2-D & Doppler (Two (2) year program or equivalent).Proficient in operating standard Cardiac Ultrasound Systems to perform technical job responsibilities. Experience in TEE and Stress Echo Procedures.2 years of Echocardiograph experience.Preferred: 6 months of hospital experience preferred.Certifications and Licenses Required: ARDMS or CCI Certification.BLS Certification.Scheduling Requirements: Day Shift, 40 hours/week.Full-Time Schedule.Essential Functions: Performs 2-D, M-Mode Echo, Color flow, and Pulse Doppler Studies with skill and competence. Can function independently at a level that achieves optimum visualization and analysis of intra-cardiac diagnostic information. Use an enhancing agent (Definity) when appropriate.Ensure that the appropriate policies and protocols are followed during all procedures.Obtain measurements and calculations accordingly on the Echo Machines. Be able to obtain diagnostic information necessary for interpretation of each individual echo study. Notify Cardiologist of emergent critical values at the time of study.Master the use of the pied-off probe during echo exams. Perform TEE Exams with skill and confidence. Perform Stress Echo & Dobutamine Stress Echo with skill and confidence. Master contrast agent (Definity) injections with skill and confidence. Determine when to administer contrast agents.Maintain all necessary paperwork such as patient face sheets, keep accurate daily Cardiologist worksheets as well as department worksheets. Enter all data on Echo equipment and computer ISCV database after each study is completed to ensure charges drop to begin & end exam for the procedure immediately.Responsible for keeping current within the area of technical expertise.Provide technical support to other staff members as needed or required.
