Job Description
Performs diagnostic cardiac ultrasound studies.
Assists the physician in gathering sonographic data necessary to reach diagnostic decisions.
Job Responsibility
1.Prepares patient for examination by explaining procedure and process.
Positions patient on examination table for optimum testing procedure and conditions.
Sets up equipment.
Transports portable echo equipment to bedside.
Performs echocardiography procedures, including transesophageal echocardiography per protocol.
Monitors patient condition, recognizes and promptly reports any motor abnormalities by patient, including fainting, discoloration, etc., to radiologist.
Identifies the significance of all structures visualized on the oscillioscope and differentiates artifacts from normal or pathological processes.
Obtains proper views and images utilizing appropriate techniques.
Determines and discusses any need for further extensive evaluations with appropriate physician.
Records and analyzes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during exam.
Correlates clinical history to ascertain appropriate procedure is performed.
Enters pertinent information in log book and computer.
Performs minor repairs and routine calibration checks to ultrasound equipment, as needed.
Recognizes and reports major problems to management to ensure prompt resolution.
Demonstrates knowledge of standards of professional practice and an ability to assist staff in examining clinical, administrative and ethical issues.
Maintains adequate supplies with periodic evaluation of expiration dates of medications.
Performs related duties, as required.
Job Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Graduate of an accredited program for the Cardiovascular Technologist OR Graduate of an accredited program for the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and physics.
Knowledgeable in pertinent medical/surgical diseases.
Credentialed in one or more of the following required:
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) from CCI.
Canadian Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CRCS) from the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP).

The salary range for this position is $64.18-$64.18/hour
