Your Contribution to NRSI NRSI is looking for a qualified individual with expertise in ecology and hydrology to contribute to our growing Ecohydrology group. The successful applicant will be based out of our Waterloo, Ontario office and will report to NRSI's Lead Ecohydrologist. The primary duties and responsibilities for this role will include:Assist the Lead Ecohydrologist and other team members with daily tasksPreparing components of proposals and reportsCompleting data entry and analysisConducting headwater drainage feature assessmentsParticipating in a variety of ecological field surveysCommunicating with clients and agencies Your Education:A diploma or degree in Physical Geography, Biology, Ecology, Earth Sciences or Environmental Sciences. Similar education experience will also be considered. Key Job Requirements: Minimum 1 year experience in a similar work environment, such as professional environmental business or corporation, or consulting businessDemonstrated accuracy and attention to detail, including management of excel spreadsheets and raw data sets, data analysis, and high levels of reading comprehension Demonstrated proficiency in report writingAbility to work independently on a regular basis as well as collaboratively in a teamBasic understanding of project management conceptsMinimum 1 year of experience or a background in hydrology and/or groundwater processes, Ontario surficial physiography and/or geomorphology, and soil composition andMinimum 1 year of experience or a background in aquatic habitat systems and watercourse processes, and/or wetland ecology/hydrology.A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle insured for work purposesAble to reliably commute on a regular basis to work location Assets: Experience with engineering data or reports (hydrology and hydrogeology reports and drawings)Training in Ontario Ecological Land Classification and/or the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System (OWES)Secondary technical ecological skillsets regarding Ontario wildlife or vegetationExperience with client and agency correspondence and/or working with engineers of various disciplinesInterest in headwater drainage features, and surface water and/or groundwater processesA commitment to continual improvement of technical abilities Application Closing Date: January 15, 2025. Position Start Date: February 1, 2025.
Location: Waterloo, Ontario. Salary: $24.00-$28.00 per hour commensurate on experience. Estimated number of hours per week, including authorized travel: 40 hours.
