The Editorial Intern will support the content development team by assisting with various editorial tasks, including researching, writing, editing and fact-checking.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in content creation within the healthcare and patient education space.
The ideal candidate is a current student or recent graduate with a passion for writing and a keen interest in the editorial process.
You will work closely with experienced editors and content creators, contributing to the production of high-quality health information that engages and informs our audience.
What You'll Do Content Creation: Research and write articles, short-form pieces and other content types in an easy-to-understand, approachable way while following our company style guide.
Research: Conduct research on various topics, particularly within the healthcare and patient education sectors, to support content development.
Fact-Checking: Confirm running content is still accurate and up to date by verifying with trusted sources.
Editorial Support: Provide general support to the editorial team, including reviewing other writers' content pieces, evaluating content from our partnership organizations and preparing content for publication.
Proofreading: Review content for grammatical errors and style consistency.
Collaboration: Work with designers to ensure content is visually appealing and helps communicate the content effectively.
Learning and Development: Participate in professional development meetings to learn basic skills for working in a business environment.
What We Need Samples: Include up to 3 samples of writing that showcase your best work.
Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or a related field.
Writing Skills: Strong writing and editing abilities, with preferred experience following a style guide.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with remote and in-person teammates.
Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Acrobat; familiarity with content management systems (CMS) is a plus.
Desired Qualifications Healthcare Interest: An interest in healthcare, wellness or patient education topics, with the desire to create content that positively impacts patient outcomes.
Previous Experience: Prior experience in an editorial role (e.g., school newspaper, blog or internship) is preferred but not required.
Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to writing and editing, ensuring all content is accurate, polished and ready for publication.
