Job Description and Duties Under the direction of the Associate Director for the Statewide Assessments Office within the Assessment Development and Administration Division (ADAD), the Director of the ADAD, and the Deputy Superintendent for the Instruction, Measurement, and Administration Branch, the Education Research and Evaluation Administrator I manages the English Language Arts and Mathematics Office. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Monitors the development, administration, scoring, and reporting of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress assessments consisting of the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments and the California Alternate Assessments English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics.
• Collaborates with ADAD offices related to test management, delivery, and reporting systems, including end user interface and online manuals.
• Oversees item and form development, and test administration to maintain content, performance, and psychometric standards for statewide assessments.
• Oversees and monitors plans for communication and outreach efforts that support the implementation of the ELA and mathematics assessments. Recommends and obtains approval of major implementation strategies. Directs the implementation of office tasks; proposes strategies and changes, including budget change proposals, legislation, and regulations.
• Determines tasks, timelines, and due dates; assigns tasks to staff and communicate responsibilities and expected work products; reviews, provides feedback, and approves contractor and staff deliverables; ensures policy and format consistencies; oversees the preparation of budgetary documents; oversees contracts administered by the office; analyzes proposed legislation that may impact the work of the office or the division; and ensures that correspondence meets CDE standards and policies.
• Meets and works collaboratively with representatives of key local, state, and national programs; gathers feedback and concerns from interest holders; clarifies policies and procedures; and promotes networking among key interest holders.
• Travels, locally and nationally, to attend and provide presentations at program-related meetings and conferences.
• Conducts interviews and selects new personnel; provides direction, guidance, oversight of office staff; monitors, evaluates, and provides constructive feedback on staff performance; approves travel and leave requests; conducts, arranges, and approves staff training; oversees the budget allocated to the office.

Working Conditions This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.
Telework refers to all working days at approved alternate work location.
