PROGRAM DESIGN: RTS facilitates a variety of youth programs including after-school, summer camps, retreats, conferences and summer employment opportunities reaching thousands of young people throughout NYC each year. At the core of our programs are staff training strategies that enable our young professionals to develop extraordinarily meaningful relationships with the young people in their care who we call Our Future Leaders because that is what they all are. PRIMARY FUNCTION: The primary functions of the Education Specialist are twofold i) to train and support Arts Instructors and ii) ensuring lessons are age appropriate and in line with the organization's mission. RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise and evaluate Instructors. Provide ongoing guidance and proper feedback.Support with development and implementation of lesson plans. Ensure all lesson plans are structured and age appropriate. Ensure all lesson plans are in line with organization's mission and vision.Ability to plan and coordinate program schedule for Elementary and Middle School. Provide tools or strategies to enhance student achievement. Conduct ongoing professional development or training on program content. Plan and implement staff development relating to instructional strategies and classroom management.Knowledge of the principals and practices of current educational trends in curriculum design. Work collaboratively with Program Directors to oversee implementation and delivery of curriculum. Work collaboratively with Education Department with development of curriculum.Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Program Director.QUALIFICATIONS: A degree in Education or related field.At least two years of experience in implementing structured programming for all ages. At least three years of experience in program curriculum and professional development.Familiar with Visual Arts (drawing, painting, photography) and Performing Arts (dance, theater).
