Job Description
This position must organize and perform Neurodiagnostic testing in the Lab and hospital Units, and maintain the departments work area needs for supplies, charging, scheduling, training and record keeping.
Responsibilities
1.
Performs quality non-invasive EEG testing, following established protocols.
Includes patient assessment for physical and educational needs, recognizing
artifacts and choosing the appropriate testing parameters within the requested
protocol in order to maximize the diagnostic value to the referring physician.

Coordinates EEG lab functions to assure consistent availability of services.
Services are scheduled and delivered in a timely fashion.
Attendance is in
compliance to the hospital time and attendance policy, and regular agreed
upon work hours effectively maintained.
Communication skills are professional
and effective when interacting with patients, referring physicians, and other
areas of the hospital.
Reports are quickly distributed to interested parties.
Data is collected and maintained for performance improvement activities as
requested by the manager.

Maintains the physical and clerical needs of the work area.
Equipment is kept
clean and in good working condition.
All supplies needed are kept at
appropriate levels to maintain the workload.
Orders and charges are input into
the HIS accurately.
The patient files, database and study archives are well
kept and organized

Other duties and responsibilities.
The EEG technologist must provide
expertise for appropriate review and update of procedures and department
practices.
Some training and peer review responsibilities are required to
provide the department with competent staffing backup.
Some assistance to
the manager is required for recommending equipment purchases as needed.
Qualifications KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION: High School degree, but Associate degree in physiological sciences is preferred.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: One (1) year experience in EEG technology is preferred, however will train or cross train depending upon availability and experience of department staff.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Basic understanding of patient preparation and technique for routine EEG after 90 days in the position.
The person in this position must demonstrate an ability to make sound decisions and act on her/his own initiative.
Knowledge of medical terminology, basic familiarity with computers, and good communication skills are preferred.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
registration in EEG preferred but not required.
