Job Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Early Childhood Development Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in providing comprehensive child development services to families enrolled in our Early Head Start program. Your responsibilities will include conducting child development screenings and assessments, developing individualized school readiness plans for children, facilitating weekly home visits, and offering family support and advocacy services. You will also collaborate with community resources and participate in team meetings to ensure the holistic well-being of the children and families we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
Home Visiting: Develop and implement a schedule of home visits and activities in alignment with program standards. Engage positively with children and families, fostering equitable and inclusive relationships. Utilize evidence-based curriculum to support caregiver-child interactions and provide developmental support.
Developmental Screening and Assessment: Conduct screenings and assessments with family input, ensuring coordination with health professionals. Maintain accurate documentation of progress and update assessments as needed.
Individualized School Readiness Plans: Develop for each child based on assessments and family input. Collaborate with families to identify strengths, needs, and goals, and provide support to achieve them.
Family Support and Parent Involvement: Identify and address family needs, providing referrals, emergency assistance, and crisis intervention when necessary. Facilitate parent education activities and actively participate in family events and Policy Council meetings.
Community Resource and Referral: Stay informed about community resources and build collaborative partnerships with agencies to support families in accessing services.
Transition Services: Assist families in transitioning out of the Early Head Start program, coordinating services with other providers as needed.
Interdisciplinary Planning: Participate in interdisciplinary planning to ensure comprehensive support for children and families.
Record Keeping: Maintain confidential and timely records for children and families in accordance with program standards.
Employee Training: Attend required trainings and provide support to new team members and volunteers.
Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with diverse families.
Competence in organization, communication, and record keeping.
Knowledge and experience in child development, early childhood education, or social services.
Familiarity with adult learning principles and family dynamics.
Proficiency in MS Office and data entry.

Work Environment:
Work involves a combination of home visits, office work, and travel.
Physical demands include sitting on the floor, lifting children if necessary, and frequent car travel.
Salary Range and Benefits:
Salary Range: $23.03 - $31.76 (Starting salary range: $23.03 - $25.21 DOE for external candidates).
