The EHS Specialist - 2nd Shift will provide specialized consultative services for environmental, health, and safety issues of concern to the line organizations at the GSK Vaccines - Hamilton site.
Shift Schedule (subject to change based on business needs): 2nd Shift -- Schedule:
Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday -- 4:00pm - 3:00am This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career.  These responsibilities include some of the following:
Provide technical expertise to line organizations in the completion of risk assessments and investigations. Develop and assist in the writing of or enhancement of site Safety and Environmental Standard Operation Procedures. Research, draft and prepare local policies and procedures for compliance with GSK EHS Standards. Gather and collect data related to EHS objectives, metrics, and targets that reflect local needs and are aligned with GSK and legal expectations. Proactively identify and support actions necessary to ensure these are achieved. Co-ordinate Management Monitoring and Independent Business Monitoring Audit programs to assess compliance with legal and GSK requirements and identify opportunities for improvement. Develop/Give Training to comply with GSK, OSHA, and EPA requirements. Provide coaching on EHS risks and programs. Champion a strong Safety culture across the site and maximize personnel involvement in EHS related activities. Conduct and document Work Place Risk assessments/Job Safety Analysis, action plans and implementation of related corrective measures. Ensure that necessary EHS information is report to local regulators and to stakeholders within GSK. Conduct investigations into serious adverse events. Perform other duties to support the site EHS department as required. Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Biology, Safety Engineering or scientific discipline 2+ years of experience as a safety professional with expertise in OSHA regulations Preferred Qualifications: Ability to provide support to operations and facilities to ensure compliance with safety programs and procedures. Working knowledge of OSHA safety and health regulations in general industry (29 CFR Part 1910) and construction (29 CFR Part 1926). Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, and management of programs related to high risk/high hazard management, risk assessments and control, processes and hazardous agents, health and wellbeing programs, security, and emergency response. Good technical knowledge of risk assessment in construction projects. General understanding of and awareness or experience in Environmental Compliance. Experience in pharmaceutical or other regulated manufacturing environment. Demonstrated organizational, trouble-shooting, and communication skills, both written and verbal required. Ability to collaborate with and influence others at all levels of the organization. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to make complex ideas seem simple and to deliver messages with clarity and impact. Demonstrated ability to prioritize plans, developing short and long term strategies to address complex issues, using relevant change management techniques. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast pace manufacturing environment which requires one to successfully be able to change and revise plans quickly to meet demand. Demonstrated flexibility to create and systematically evaluate different alternative solutions to issues, while maintaining compliance regulations and GSK standards. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to work and make sound decisions with minimal supervision or oversight. #LI-GSK
