Position Description: We are looking for an Electric Distribution Designer/Engineer to join our ICE team to help improve infrastructure in our Midwest offices. The candidate must have significant Electric Distribution Design and Engineering experience including 2+ years of direct utility company experience. This role will require the oversight and QA/QC of both simple and complex engineering projects, working directly with clients, and ensuring Wade Trims reputation of high quality is maintained. Some travel and field work will be required for this role. The candidate must also be self-motivated, work well with others, and have excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.
\n Typical responsibilities include: Design and construction work package development for overhead and underground electric distribution systems.Prepares scaled work order maps using Computer Aided Design software (CAD), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and other client design systems. Draws map(s) using the accurate mapping symbols, text, decals, stamps, etc.Consults with Planners and other planning personnel to prepare design drawings and modifications as required.Complete asset assessment on overhead and underground electric equipment and circuits. Completes engineering functions and calculations based on field information and redline from Planner (i.e., cable pulling, voltage drop, flicker, etc)Perform engineering calculations that may include: structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, transformer sizing, voltage drop and flicker, and coordination of protective devices. Prepares joint pole authorizations based on field information and redline from Planner.Inputs customer, project, and billing information.Review and assemble work order packages for delivery to Client.Prepare forestry trimming requests, facilitating permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, and customer advocacy such as acquiring easementsManage scope, schedule and budget of work assignedReview engineering design packages with clientsPerform functional tasks, planning, and/or customer follow-upPerform scope analysis of work assigned and maintain schedule adherence in support of client priorities.Provide technical oversight and QAQC of team designs and analysis. Establish and develop client relationships while providing a positive influence within your team and collaborating with peersInitiate continuous improvement to work flow processes that drive efficiency and high quality standards in client design deliverables.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Maintains a safe working environment Education:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience is required Skills/Experience:Two plus years of experience working for utility companies requiredExperience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and distribution construction & design standards are requiredExperience with power system planning and operations: Power flow studies, short circuit, transient stability, dynamic Studies, reliability studies, risk assessment techniques, and protection co-ordination studies; generator interconnection; load forecasting and harmonics analysis are required.Ability to read electrical schematics is requiredDemonstrated experience in using power system analysis software is requiredSkilled with attention to detail and excellent analytical and organizational skills is requiredExperience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Work Management Systems (WMS), and CYME is preferred
