The Ultra Engineering function manages a portfolio of specialist capabilities, generating highly differentiated solutions and products by applying electronic, mechanical, and software technologies in demanding and critical environments to meet customer needs.
Nationality Requirements Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.
Job Description Summary of Role:
The Intermediate Electrical Engineer will work as part of a multi-disciplinary project team developing new and innovative electronics solutions to meet customer needs. The intermediate electrical engineer will work in several specialist areas including low noise preamps, high speed digital telemetry, Digital Signal Processing, and RF Design.
Key Responsibilities: Participate in design, implementation, configuration management and test of hardware and firmware systems in accordance with the company's procedure and project specific requirements.Preparing or reviewing typical design documentation (design requirements, schematics, board layouts, technical specifications, and data sheets).Preparing or reviewing engineering deliverables for existing and new electrical system design modifications/upgrades/replacements.Preparing cost estimates or cooperating appropriately with others responsible for reporting the estimate.Apply independent diversified knowledge of engineering principles and best practices.Participate in technical reviews.Other tasks as assigned.Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronic EngineeringMaster's Degree as asset, especially Electrical, Electronic or Underwater Acoustics EngineeringExperience: Electrical/Electronic Engineering (>5 years) commercial or military type electronics desirable.Electrical/Electronic Engineering Lead/Project lead (>1 year)Experience of Maritime Domain (desirable)Experience of Underwater Warfare Domain (desirable)Desired Skills: Experience with electronic design to military and safety standardsAnalog and digital electronic designEmbedded microcontroller design (ARM-based microcontrollers or DSP-based systems)Experience with peripherals such as SOI I2C, UART, etc.Experience with DSP applicationsOrCAD Capture, OrCAD PSpice Designer and PCB DesignerAssembly and C language programming for embedded systemsFPGA Design using VHDLNetwork communication – Fiber Optic Ethernet ATM SONETA team-oriented individual that works collaboratively to achieve team goalsStrong communication skills and a positive attitude, with capability to mentor othersMust be self-motivated, adaptable, and attentive to detailsAbility to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a deadline-oriented environmentFamiliar with formal project design process and documentationSpecific Role Requirement: Ability to work on Canadian Controlled Goods and US ITAR controlled articlesCandidate must be capable of acquiring a NATO Reliability and Secret security clearance (10 years of residency in Canada)Able to travel within Canada, US and OverseasDiverse & Inclusive Employer: Ultra Maritime is an equal opportunities employer that values diversity, inclusion, equity and equality.
