Position Summary: The individual in this position works in association with other architectural and engineering staff in the department where multiple disciplines are required for completion of assignments. In addition to involvement with facility/infrastructure repair/construction projects, the individual will work as part of a team focused on energy management which will include involvement in analyzing consumption and peak demands, developing campus wide strategies for improving efficiencies, energy conservation and short/long term utility purchasing strategies.
Responsible for highly technical, professional electrical engineering services which include: major planning and development for repair, modification, and replacement of the University's electrical systems. Execute assignments and special projects, some with unusual difficulty which require engineering with a high degree of experience, knowledge and skills for planning, analysis, design, preparation of electrical design documents, detailed estimates, and the coordination and administration of major electrical/construction projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Project Facilitation – 30% Planning for and development of campus wide electrical system repair, improvement, and replacement projects. Establish and maintain long- and short-range planning for electrical systems, distribution, and related building electrical equipment repair and improvements. Collect and analyze statistical data and prepare recommendations for prioritized repairs, alterations to, or expansion of electrical equipment of the institution. Assist in managing and updating NIU construction standards specific to electrical specifications and other related specifications.
