Job Title: Electrical Engineer IV, Battery Electrical Systems

Pay Rate: $121,890 – $169,900

Location: Onsite, Webster, Texas
Position Overview: The Electrical Engineer IV, Battery Electrical Systems will design, test, and analyze battery electrical systems for both KULR ONE (K1) and K1 Design Services (K1-DS). This position is heavily focused on PCB design and testing but will also include: selection of Battery Management System (BMS) or design of custom BMS, design of electrical interconnects and busbars, determination of cell selection and configuration for new design verticals, and design and interaction with high voltage systems. This role communicates progress on designs and activities for relevant programs through KULR's Product Development Process (PDP) to the Senior Manager, Mechanical Engineering.
Functions: Design and manage battery electrical systems including high energy systems, high power systems, and/or high voltage systems.Create and/or modify electrical drawings and communicate the contents to our manufacturing team during their development of work instructions.Perform electrical analysis of designs for K1 and K1-DS.Design of custom Battery Management Systems (BMS) and other PCB.Aid in assembly of electrical sub-systems, including tab welding for engineering prototypes.Participate in cell-level and battery-level thermal runaway testing including design of testing procedure, execution of testing, processing of testing results, and interpretation of testing results.Participate in cell-level and battery-level electrical characterization activities.Other job-related duties as assigned.Requirements Education & Experience: B.S. in Electrical Engineering is required. Graduate degree in STEM field desired.7 years of design, test, analysis, and/or management of battery electrical systems.Prior experience in hands-on testing activities and post-test data interpretation activities.5-7 years' experience with design activities involving CAD and electrical schematic development.Experience involving COTS or custom battery management system (BMS).Experience working with high energy systems, high power systems, and/or high voltage systems.Extensive knowledge of communication protocols: UART, I2C, CANBUS.Expert knowledge of Python and C.PREFERRED: Previous experience with power electronic design.Previous experience with PCB design.Previous extensive experience with custom BMS Design.Experience in testing PCB for harsh environments.Experience with radiation tolerant electronic design.Desired computer skills: Altium, P-Spice, KiCAD, Solidworks, PTC Creo Parametric, GT-SUITE, thermal analysis platforms, computational fluids dynamics (CFD) platforms, Tableau or Microsoft Power BI, LabVIEW, MATLAB.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Expertise with design of power electronics and/or BMS systems.Demonstrated ability to influence others and build effective relationships.Computer Simulation, Design Optimization, Electrical Engineering, Mathematical Analysis, Programming, Prototyping, Reliability Analysis, Requirements Engineering/Analysis.Outstanding interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.Cooperative spirit within a team of diverse cultures while working in a fast-paced environment.Expert use of MS Office Suite required.Physical Demands/Work Environment: Sedentary work with close visual acuity and the ability to communicate effectively.Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.Special Conditions: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.Must be a U.S. Citizen due to federal contract requirements.Successful applicant must meet ITAR requirements.What We Offer Our Team: Competitive payRich benefits plan including 100% employer-paid medical insurance (employee-only plan)Dental, vision, life insurance, etc.401k planPaid Time Off (PTO)Paid holidaysAnd much more!KULR is proud to be an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
