Job Summary ELECTRICIAN III: $54,967.77-$81,365.92 (G15) Bargaining Group: Union Represented (GAME)/Civil Service FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

This advanced skilled position installs, maintains, modifies and repairs the utility system's electrical components through a variety of electrical systems and telemetry equipment used and operated throughout the city.
Reports to the Electrical Supervisor.
Essential Functions Performs preventive maintenance, repair and modification of electrical systems and equipment within the utility system to include lift stations, pump stations, water, and wastewater plants.
Installs and repairs power utilization, air conditioning and lighting systems within all utility facilities.
Installs radio, data, and communications equipment.
May assist in connecting temporary power and lighting for city special events.
Receives, reviews, prepares and/or processes electrical diagrams, work orders, blueprints, schematics, material quotes, manuals, telemetry reports, maintenance records, logs, requisitions, as-built drawings, material lists, memos, etc.
Operates a vehicle, bucket truck, utility truck, generators, pipe threader, wire tugger, electrician's tools, meters, diagnostic tools, various other hand, and power tools, etc.
; operates a computer, two-way radio, telephone.
Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, co-workers, other department supervisors and employees, other city department heads and employees, contractors, sales and service representatives, consultants, engineers, and the general public.
Changes light bulbs in various lighting systems, including sports, streets, security, task, specialty, and general lighting.
Responds to emergency after-hours service calls.
Assists in ordering materials, supplies, and parts.
Performs related duties as required.
Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED.

A minimum of 5 years of electrical repair and maintenance experience in an industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Journeyman Electrician license Must possess a valid Florida CDL "B" driver's license Position Requirements/Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of electrical systems and related tools, equipment, and apparatus used in electrical repair.
Knowledge of state and local electrical codes and regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
Ability to adapt to an evolving and continually improving environment.
Ability to respond to supervision, guidance, and direction of superiors in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies and procedures.
Ability to demonstrate a polite, helpful, and courteous manner when engaged in any activity with both employees and general public.
Ability to operate and care for equipment to manufacturer's specifications and/or within the specified parameters.
Ability to demonstrate an understanding, consideration, and respect of cultural, religious, and gender differences when interacting with the general public and colleagues.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires moderate physical effort including lifting up to 50 pounds.
May require frequent crouching, kneeling, bending, and stooping.
Frequent periods of standing or walking may be required.


CITY OF MIRAMAR

This is a union/represented position; the below summary of benefits provided by the City is applicable to all full-time positions covered under the G.A.M.E.
Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).


PAID TIME OFF City-Observed Holidays:Twelve (12) paid full-day holidays and two (2) paid half-day holidays (Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve) per year Personal Floating Holidays:Five (5) paid full-day floating holidays to use in addition to the existing observed holidays Sick Time: Employees earn sick time at the rate of one (1) day per month.
Vacation Time: Employees earn vacation time from the date of hire and accrue hours bi-weekly based on the following service schedule: Years of Service Vacation Hours per Year Less than 4 years 80 hours 4 - 9.99 years 120 hours 10 - 19.99 years 160 hours 20 - 29.99 years 200 hours

Note: Accrued time (vacation and sick) begins from the first month of employment but cannot be accessed until after the third month of employment.

INSURANCE Medical: The City offers three (3) medical insurance options through Aetna: HMO, POS & HDHP w/HSA.
Eligibility date is based on the following schedule: Hire Date Eligibility Date 1st - 15th of month
(Ex: October 8th) 1st day of month
(Ex: November 1st) 16th - end of month
(Ex: October 18th) 1st day of next subsequent month
(Ex: December 1st)

Employees electing to waive medical coverage are eligible to receive a conditional opt-out incentive with proof of eligible coverage and completion of the applicable waiver forms.

RETIREMENT PLANS Defined Benefit (Pension) Plan: A pension plan provides a guaranteed benefit at retirement if certain criteria are met.
The amount of your future benefit is determined by a formula, based on earnings, length of service and Plan multiplier.
Participation in the Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time employees.

SALARY INFORMATION Salary Step Plan: All G.A.M.E.
positions follow a progressive Salary Step Plan.
Newly hired employees start at Step 1 for their job classification then every year, on the employee's anniversary date, the employee advances to the next Step in the Salary Step Plan, which provides an automatic increase in pay.
