We are seeking a cleared or clearable Engineering Manager for a critical role, onsite at the Xetron facility, in our engineering organization, to be responsible for managing a team and ensuring successful completion of projects that support National Defense partners. This is a dual role position, involving direct management of talented team of high performing multi-discipline engineers as well as project engineering leadership for technically advanced development programs to produce cutting edge hardware and/or software products The products produced at this facility support all domains of intelligence and defense battlespaces including land, sea, air, cyber, and space. Many of the problem-sets our customers expect us to solve do not have known solutions, so ingenuity is essential. We have a preference for candidates with experience in multiple relevant technology areas, such as RF hardware development, FPGA firmware development, and/or DSP algorithm development. Ideal candidates for this position have extensive breadth and depth of knowledge in all aspects of engineering. Less experienced candidates that demonstrate high technological aptitude with a willingness and desire to learn are equally qualified for this position. Your direct management responsibilities will include: - Managing and guiding multi-discipline engineers - Setting objectives and then monitoring and reviewing yearly progress for your team - Being responsible and accountable for managing the workload of your direct reports - Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring top-ranked engineering talent - Providing timely, constructive support and feedback to your reports on a regular basis - Completing semi-annual performance assessments of your team members - Motivating your team members (engagement) and facilitating regular meetings with them - Providing mentoring and career development to each team member - Coordinating training for each team member - Providing appropriate tools and resources for your team's development activities Your project engineering leadership duties will include: - Leadership of program technical execution in order to meet cost and schedule constraints - Program staffing for optimal execution - Technical direction, guidance, and mentoring of project team members - Working programs, proposals, and internally funded activities in a technical or leadership role - Risk-mitigation planning and execution - Strategic problem solving - Earned value management Our employees have the option of Northrop Grumman's flexible work arrangements, including 9/80 schedules and 4/10 schedules. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, or other STEM degree Candidate must have minimum of 9 years' experience in an engineering role with BS; or 8 years with MS; or 4 years with Ph.D. Demonstrated technical leadership, engineering management, and/or program management experience Experience in developing custom electronic hardware systems US Citizenship is required The ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance (NG will sponsor) Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills Current, active Top-Secret clearance Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering Experience in developing custom RF hardware systems Experience in FPGA firmware development Experience in DSP algorithm development Experience as a technical lead, functional lead, or leadership in the military Experience in multiple relevant technology areas Experience in recruiting and developing top engineering talent M.S., M.B.A., or other advanced degree
