**Relocation assistance provided - 5 days/week onsite in Milford, OH** Job Title: Principal Engineer, Electromagnetic Design Location: Milford, OH Job Purpose: As a Principal Engineer, Electromagnetic Design, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development and optimization of electric powertrains for a leading technology company. Based in our Cincinnati, Ohio office, you will be responsible for improving modeling accuracy, designing and optimizing electric powertrains, developing test plans, constructing prototypes, and conducting measurements in our dyno lab. Key Responsibilities: Electromagnetic Design and Optimization: Design, optimize, and analyze linear electric generators, focusing on factors such as cost, efficiency, performance, and power density. Material Evaluation: Conduct characterization tests to assess the impact of new materials on electric machine performance and efficiency, and validate system models and parameter estimates. Advanced Modeling: Develop MATLAB functions to accurately model electric machine performance and efficiency. FEA Simulations: Perform 2D/3D finite element analysis simulations to understand the electromagnetic behavior of various electromechanical components. Analytical Modeling: Create analytical models to improve the calculation of flux linkage and losses for different types of electric machines. Powertrain Integration: Optimize electric machine design to seamlessly integrate with the overall powertrain system. Dyno Testing: Conduct dyno loss and fault characterizations for electric machines. Innovation: Explore and design innovative electric machine topologies, incorporating emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing methods. Thermal Modeling: Create simulation models for thermal model development and system engineering. Supplier Collaboration: Develop electric machine component specifications and work closely with suppliers. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering/Electromagnetics. Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related fields preferred. Minimum 15 years of experience in Electromagnetic or Electrical Engineering. Proven track record in designing and optimizing electric machines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in MATLAB, FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL), and other relevant software. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
