Regular PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Electronics Technician Maintenance III applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering; changes.
Work typically requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment.
Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices.
This position may provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
This position shall provide full spectrum support to the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex (JPARC) at Eielson Air Force Base (AFB), Alaska to include maintenance, operational, engineering support, operational support for RED FLAG Alaska (RFA) exercises and daily training requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Performs communications-electronics operation and maintenance to include preventive maintenance, scheduled/unscheduled maintenance, inspections, corrosion control and configuration management, on Radar, Range Threat Systems, Radio Frequency (RF) UHF/VHF/Microwave Radios, Uninterruptable Power Systems, Network/Fiber Systems, Crypto Equipment and other associated JPARC Joint Integrated Air Defense Systems (JIADS).
* Subject matter expert in basic electronics, RF transmitter/receiver theory, technical orders/manuals, RF/network/fiber cable standards, electronic sensitive devices, grounding bonding and shielding, antennas, antenna towers, frequency requests and approvals, corrosion and control methods and etc.
* Performs installation of communication-electronic equipment according to specified technical documentation, data and guidance for assigned projects and new systems.
* Prepares and maintains accurate maintenance and installation documentation using USAF Technical Orders (TO), OEM/commercial manuals/documentation and historical and communications infrastructure records, etc.
* Perform entries into Integrated Maintenance Database Systems (IMDS), (CAMS) Core Automated Maintenance System replacement) and/or other maintenance data collect systems to document equipment outages, equipment status reporting, schedule maintenance actions, document maintenance actions, creation of job standards and/or preventative maintenance inspections, etc., to ensure current and correct status is being reported.
* Provides in-depth training of lower-level electronics technicians on communications-electronics equipment.
* Uses TOs and commercial manuals (OEM), system/tower "as-builts" and communications infrastructure drawings to perform maintenance, servicing, annual corrosion inspection, treatment, tightening or alignment, repair or replacement of all antennas, cables and transmission lines.
* Ensure safety and quality control standards are met using appropriate instructions and policy directives.
* Assists in range maintenance, fire suppression and decontamination as required.
* Assist in tracking, replenishing, and maintaining sufficient spares inventory for all assigned systems to ensure system operational readiness.
* Assist management is briefings, reporting and status meeting with the government, as requested.
* Travel to support training movement/TDY to foreign countries.
* Must be able to multitask.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: * Must possess craftsman level technical knowledge of electrical and electronic principles.
* Must possess an in-depth knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures, practices and methods on communications-electronics equipment and components and associated communication-electronics processes to include job data documentation, grounding, bonding and shielding, corrosion and control and .
* Must have advanced knowledge of electronic test equipment.
* Must have advanced knowledge in troubleshooting, inspections, calibrate, repair, remove and install equipment components.
* Ability to prepare radars and supporting equipment for the scheduled training events.
* Must have advanced knowledge of maintenance data collection databases to include in administrative level entries, i.e., equipment status reporting and job standard task creation
* Must have significant knowledge in Communications Security, related programs and regulations.
* Must be able to assist in projects or programs dealing with communications electronics systems and associated equipment
* Ability to climb up to 70 feet to perform maintenance.
* Must be able to train lower level Electronic Technicians.
* Must be able to re-establish systems after movement and deployment.
* Must be a multi-tasker.
QUALIFICATIONS: * High School Diploma or equivalent
* Graduate of an accredited electronics apprentice program with twelve (12) years of Journeyman level and seven (7) years craftsman level experience or military electronics technical training, equivalent Associate's degree, and same number of years at Journeyman and Craftsman level experience as previously stated.
Bachelors or higher degree in electronics/telecommunications field preferred otherwise
* Recent communications-electronics quality assurance, project management, and IMDS equipment status reporting/job standard experience to include military/DoD/commercial course completions in the previously stated areas is highly desired
* Five (5) years' experience performing Electronic Technician II work at the journey level on RF Transmitters/Receivers, Microwave, Radar and Comm Networks with in-depth knowledge of test/diagnostic equipment, electronic component level fault isolation/repair of circuit cards components, i.e.
resisters, capacitors, microcircuits, and etc., interpreting/troubleshooting with complex drawings, IMDS maintenance reporting, associated communication-electronics programs requirements and etc.
* Must be able to work on secure military facilities.
* Must have current valid driver's license and clean driving record and be qualified to operate a vehicle
* Must be able to pass a DoD background check, pass drug screening tests and obtain SECRET security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance to access TS/SCI, Special Access Program Information and Facilities.
