Company Description The Multicultural Learning Center (MLC) is a TK-8 dual language public charter school with the mission to bring together a diverse community of learners where cultural and individual differences are the building blocks of academic, social, and intrapersonal success. MLC is located in Canoga Park in the heart of the San Fernando Valley.

Job Description

Teachers at MLC are responsible for fulfilling the goals and objectives of MLC's educational program as described in its charter. This includes preparing and implementing lessons that are engaging and integrated across subject matter, standards-based curriculum development in two languages, classroom and behavior management, and assessment and evaluation. Teachers at MLC commit to professional growth and development and participate fully in opportunities for professional development to improve practice and meet school-wide goals.

Teachers must be committed to preserving the mission, vision, and educational philosophy of the school. This includes collaborating with the school community to maintain a positive learning environment promoting values such as respect, safety, mutual support, motivation, and personal growth. Teachers report to the Principal.

Salary Range is $60,150 - $100,709 depending on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Create and maintain effective environments for student learning, where students are excited about learning and preparing for college.

Understand and organize subject matter for student learning in a way that fosters individual and group investigation.

Plan instruction and design differentiated learning experiences for a range of needs and abilities utilizing the Common Core Standards.

Use formative and summative assessments of student learning to drive instruction.

Collect and analyze student data to improve the school-wide instructional program.

Collaborate with Resource Teachers, students and families to support the academic and social development of students with disabilities and suggest options for improvement.

Attend IEP, 504, and SST meetings as required for your students

Continually support student behavior with systems for feedback, reflection, and growth.

Monitor student progress, maintain student records and portfolios

Communicate and actively build strong relationships with students and parents/guardians on a weekly basis, including leading parent conference meetings.

Welcome open inquiry and peer feedback and review.

Participate in school-wide events such as Back-To-School Night, Open Houses, and Parent-Teacher Conferences

Attend and implement professional development training throughout and beyond the school year.

Participate on school governance committees and in decision-making process.

Recruit and retain students and families to the dual-immersion program.

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications

California Teaching Credential with a Bilingual Authorization

Fluency in both English and Spanish and academic level vocabulary and syntax expertise in both languages

Growth mindset

Constructive teaching methodology

Pedagogy focused on social emotional learning, content integration, student-driven instruction, and project-based learning
