POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Anticipated Openings for the 2024-25 School Year

Title: .5 Intervention Specialist Hayes Elementary/ .5 Intervention
Specialist Benjamin Harrison Elementary

Department: Certified

Responsible To: Building Principal/Administrator

Supervises: Educational assistants (para-professionals)/volunteers/student teachers

Qualifications: Must hold a valid Ohio Teaching License and/or the
appropriate Endorsement and Authorization for the assignment. A
current, valid intervention specialist license (or equivalent) issued by the
Ohio Department of Education. Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Terms of Employment: Contract, salary, and benefits per negotiated agreement.

Job Goal: To provide identified students with a program and interventions that will enable students to reach his/her fullest academic, emotional, psychological, physical and behavioral potential.

Performance Responsibilities: Ensures the safety of students. Initiates, develops and implements Individual Education Programs (IEPs) and interventions for students with specific learning needs, social emotional needs, or specific skill deficiencies. Demonstrates a focus for student learning, with appropriate learning objectives that include measurable goal(s) for student learning aligned with the Ohio standards. Provides formal and informal assessments to collect evidence of students' knowledge and skills and analyze data to effectively inform instructional planning and delivery. Collaborates with general education teachers to: Develops lesson plans using the state approved academic core content standards and students' IEPs, suggests instructional strategies and supports students in maintaining satisfactory academic achievement. Maintains data based on individual students' goals and objectives as outlined in the IEP. Provides specially designed instruction (SDI) in the students least restrictive environment (general education, intervention classroom, remote learning, etc.). Prepares progress reports at least as often as grades are provided (interim and/or quarterly). Coordinates IEP team meetings as necessary to remain compliant and/or or at the request of an IEP team member. Collaborates with the school psychologist to contribute data and needs and implications for a students evaluation team report (ETR). Initiates behavioral interventions through a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and/or behavior intervention plan (BIP) to establish and maintain student behavioral expectations if necessary. Performs basic record keeping functions pertaining to special education data collection and compliance timelines. Works collaboratively with intervention specialists and related therapy staff to ensure students' needs are met as outlined in their IEP. Maintains positive rapport with students and demonstrates respect for and interest in all students. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative guidelines. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and develops reasonable rules of behavior and procedures for the classroom to maintain order in a fair and just manner. Uses effective communication strategies with students and families and works effectively with colleagues to examine problems of practice, analyze student work, and identify targeted strategies. Meets ethical and professional responsibilities with integrity and honesty. The teacher models and upholds district policies and state and federal regulations. Sets data-based short and long-term professional goals and takes action to meet these goals. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms. Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent, principal, Student Services director and/or Student Services supervisor.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Maintain appropriate licenses/endorsements and training hours as required. Comply with applicable district, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations Adhere to all standards established by the Ohio Department of Education for Licensed Educators. Maintain good attendance and punctuality. Maintain knowledge of academic area, teaching methodology and strategies to engage students. Ability to work effectively with others. Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
Other Duties and Responsibilities: Exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability and sound judgment. Maintain confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships. Attends meetings, professional development and serves on staff committees as required. Interacts in a positive manner with staff, students and parents. Refer suspected cases of child abuse immediately to the appropriate child protective services/law enforcement agency as mandated by state law and Board of Education policy. Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect district equipment, materials and facilities. Plans purposeful assignments for educational assistants (para-professionals), volunteers and student teachers.
