The ideal candidate will be a key contributor to the development of embedded software and hardware that is deployed in various software test systems, hardware and software testing environments, and software development platforms. These development and validation systems, hardware, and tools are distributed globally to engineering teams across Ford and our development partners. This role supports design, documentation, implementation, and validation of software components used by multiple teams both internal and external to Ford and will be involved in the launch of software solutions in future Ford vehicles. Projects vary from year to year. Current projects will be used in the ongoing development and testing of the next generation infotainment system, embedded modem, vehicle cloud connectivity, mobile app development & integration testing, as well as multiple additional In-Vehicle Infotainment development projects.
Collaborate with hardware and software teams to architect and develop test tools to support In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) hardware and software feature development and validation.
Support the full software development lifecycle from project definition through release and end user support, including ongoing maintenance.
Assist in development of advanced architectures and platforms for next generation hardware/software infotainment tools.
Participate in reviews for new features and software implementation, create designs with the software team and other stakeholders.
Author software application notes, programming manuals, and training materials for distribution to engineering teams.
Author software components and ensure that they meet functional and quality requirements.
Understand all aspects of the software development lifecycle and apply data analytics to quantify and provide insight to process improvements.
Perform special projects, one off experimental task, lab testing including use of soldering equipment for hardware rework.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant work experience.
5+ years of hands-on experience with C/C++ (e.g., OOP, data types, memory management, peripheral device drivers, conditional statements, pointers, structures, etc.).
5+ years of experience in developing and optimizing image processing and computer vision libraries for recognizing/detecting objects (icons, text, color, audio, and moving objects) in videos and images using OpenCV, and Tesseract.
3+ years of experience in developing, maintaining, and optimizing NVidia Cuda code for image/video processing.
5+ years of experience in hands-on development and debugging for embedded targets and/or ARM based SOC architecture with Linux operating system.
5+ years of experience in building binaries from source code and deploying it in various environment and resolving dependencies.
Preferred Requirements:
Master's Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant work experience.
Experience in developing, optimizing, and deploying AI/ML models for NVidia systems.
Experience or knowledge of databases (MySQL and SQLite).
Experience or knowledge of automation testing frameworks (e.g., Python, PyTest, Tox, Slash, Data Driven Testing, Behavior Driven Testing, Gherkin) involving hardware and simulated environments.
Experience in unit level and system level testing.
Experience with Linux device drivers and device trees.
Experience reading schematics and data sheets.
Experience with Agile Scrum development methodologies with common workflow tools (e.g., Confluence, GIT, Jira, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, TestRail).
Experience with creating supporting documentation (e.g., design documents, architecture diagrams, test procedures, reports).
