Emergency Vehicle Operator (Evo)

Earn an extra $2.00 per hour for weekend shifts (shifts Friday night through Monday morning).* An Emergency Vehicle Operator (EVO) is part of a two-member team with an EMT, and is responsible for safely driving an ambulance to emergency and scheduled pick-up locations, transporting patients and emergency personnel, assisting in moving patients via stretchers, and otherwise assisting emergency personnel as requested. EVOs go through an extensive in-house training program, which includes the following: EVOC driver course, CPR & first aid, incident command and national incident management systems, hazardous materials, and field & driver orientation.
FT EVO earns $17.25 per hour plus bonuses and benefits. Part time EVO positions also available. EVOs work at each of our stations in Schenectady, Albany, Troy, and Glenville New York.
Room to Grow: EVOs in good standing are able to enroll into Mohawk Ambulance Service's EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) courses to promote into an EMT-Basic role with the company. Courses are free in exchange for 1 year of employment as an EMT with Mohawk.

Requirements: Valid NY State Driver's License
Successful completion of free, in-house training (EVOC/emergency vehicle operator course and BLS/First Aid and CPR)
Must be at least 18 years of age
Preferred Qualifications: Clean driving record (no points, no recent motor vehicle accidents, regardless of fault)Driver/Fire/EMS experience *Weekend differential pay is only applicable when the program is active.
