Details of the offer

Daily duties for the Shift Captain may consist of but are not limited to:

Coordinating the scheduling of emergency medical systems and operations. Overseeing the orientation of new staff, yearly licensure/credentialing, and dealing with employee issues/behaviors. Assisting with hiring/termination. Maintaining transport equipment/checklists and conducting peer reviews. Demonstrating the ability to write and verbalize goals, objectives, and document outcomes. Shift Captains are expected to assist with evaluating the performance of current employees. Individuals must have strong, effective interpersonal skills and be able to teach and develop the emergency management services group.

Shift Captains must be able to work independently and demonstrate accountability to define goals and objectives to achieve desired outcomes. Individuals should have knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures.

Shift Captains are required to have a strong commitment to providing outstanding services and a clear customer focus.

It is essential for the Shift Captains to have strong negotiation skills and be creative, flexible, and innovative in adapting the program to changing customer needs.

Individuals should maintain all credentials and possess strong clinical skills.

Shift Captains will be expected to keep the management team informed on activities within the group, such as progress on projects. Individuals should attend training classes to maintain national certification, state licensure, and trade education conferences, and keep abreast of new developments in the field.

Depending on the location of the position, work hours will vary based on company scheduling needs, which may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

In addition to the responsibilities noted above, the Shift Captain will function primarily as an EMS Crew Member during a scheduled shift and will report directly to the Division Manager.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Shifts focus among several efforts as required by changing priorities. Duties include:

Delivering written and oral communication, responding to questions and concerns, and producing specific outcomes and impacts. Helping to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtaining a decision on resolution. Raising awareness of potential strategic alliances and partnerships. Facilitating reconciliation rather than divisiveness among individuals. Collaborating with others to create satisfactory interpersonal outcomes. Assisting in the coordination of departmental employees for efficiency and effectiveness enhancement. Monitoring progress continuously and adjusting tactics for handling situations on a case-by-case basis. Obtaining information and addressing questions that can facilitate movement from problem to resolution stage. QUALIFICATIONS Must hold a valid State EMS License at the EMT, EMT-I, AEMT, or Paramedic level. Must possess a valid Driver's License and have a good driving record. High school diploma or equivalent required; Post-secondary education (Associates or Bachelor's degree) preferred or must have three years of experience in ambulance services, managerial experience, or two years of previous supervisory experience.
