Sanford Ambulance deploys ambulances throughout the communities that we serve, utilizing Computer Aided Dispatch software that incorporates Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) data and GPS. Uniforms and continuing education are provided at no cost to the employee.SummaryEmergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) are responsible for responding to requests for emergency medical services and provide Basic Life Support (BLS) as appropriate. EMTs demonstrate competency in delivering excellent care to sick and injured patients (adults/children/infants) and possess the knowledge and the necessary skills to provide lifesaving interventions in a pre-hospital setting, both on-scene as well as during transport to a hospital Emergency Department (based on protocols or physician medical direction).Job DescriptionMaintain an active knowledge of, and performs within, all relevant statutes, regulations, policies, procedures and standards. Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking. Respond to all dispatched requests for services in a safe and efficient manner. Consistently demonstrate safe practices while preventing harm to patients, families, employees, and themselves. Provide patient education appropriate to the developmental level, learning needs, cultural values, and beliefs of patients and their families. Provide appropriate assessment and treatment utilizing established patient care guidelines/protocols that assure the highest level of care and safety all times. Accurately document patient information in EHR in accordance with established standards and department policies/procedures. Cooperate with, assist, and give direction to additional responding agencies as needed. Accurately report patient history, condition, and any treatment/response to treatment provided upon arrival to the care team at the Emergency Department.Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment with a strong emphasis on customer service. Maintain standards related to ambulance cleanliness and sanitation procedures before and after any patient transport. Function effectively in assigned role utilizing the company's disaster response plan. Attend and complete all required company training sessions and maintains continuing education requirements by set by the company or licensing agencies. Maintain clear communication with patients, comfort and reassure patients, and be able to demonstrate empathy while maintaining confidentiality of the patient's information.Physical activities include but are not limited to: Considerable use of arms and legs and moving of whole body, such as: climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Previous EMT experience preferred.Requires completion of an accredited EMT training program required for eligibility to test with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and subsequent active EMT certification with NREMT by the time of hire.Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Requires ability to be licensed as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in both ND (ND Department of Health) and MN (Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board).
