As an Endoscopy Technician (Endo Tech), you will support healthcare professionals in performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using endoscopic instruments.
You will assist with patient preparation, equipment setup, and procedure documentation, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for endoscopic examinations and treatments.Key Responsibilities:Patient Preparation:Escort patients to the endoscopy unit, explain procedures, and address any concerns or questions.Assist with patient positioning and preparation, ensuring comfort and privacy during the procedure.Equipment Setup and Maintenance:Prepare endoscopic instruments, accessories, and sterile supplies needed for procedures.Perform equipment checks and ensure proper functioning of endoscopes, cameras, light sources, and suction devices.Procedure Assistance:Assist healthcare providers during endoscopic procedures, handing instruments, scopes, and accessories as requested.Monitor patients' vital signs and comfort level during procedures, alerting the team to any changes or concerns.Sterile Technique and Infection Control:Maintain a sterile field during procedures, adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.Handle and dispose of contaminated materials and biohazardous waste according to established guidelines.Documentation and Record Keeping:Document procedure details, patient information, and vital signs accurately in medical records or electronic health records (EHRs).Assist with completing procedure reports and ensuring timely submission of documentation.Patient Care and Recovery:Assist with transferring patients to recovery areas post-procedure, monitoring their condition and providing comfort measures as needed.Educate patients and caregivers about post-procedure care instructions and potential side effects.Quality Assurance and Compliance:Participate in quality assurance activities, including equipment maintenance, infection control audits, and procedural documentation reviews.Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, policies, and procedures governing endoscopy practices.Team Collaboration and Communication:Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, including physicians, nurses, and anesthesia providers, to coordinate patient care and procedural logistics.Foster a collaborative and supportive environment to promote patient safety and optimal outcomes.
