Energy Practice Associate - Partner Track AmLaw150 firm is seeking a talented and experienced Energy Practice Associate for a full-time, in-person position at our Washington DC office.

The chosen candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the energy landscape, dealing directly with significant clients and managing intricate legal and regulatory issues in energy transactions and proceedings.
Salary: $300,000.00 - $500,000.00 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Manage and execute a variety of transactional matters including power purchase agreements, EEIs, ISDAs, gas prepays, and energy storage services agreements.Handle administrative proceedings involving electric and natural gas practice before Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and state public service commissions.Directly work with and advise high-profile clients on regulatory and transactional matters.Develop strategies to support client goals in complex legal and regulatory environments.Prepare and review legal documents and provide comprehensive legal opinions and advice.Participate in business development activities including seminars, conferences, and client presentations to strengthen the firm's presence in the energy market.Minimum Position Qualifications: Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.At least 4 years of experience in transactional or energy regulatory matters.Admitted to practice in the District of Columbia or eligible for waiver into the DC bar.Proven track record of managing complex legal cases and client relationships.Strong analytical skills and the ability to think strategically.Demonstrated high level of communication and writing skills.Preferred Qualifications: Experience with federal energy regulatory affairs particularly with FERC and state commissions.Prior roles that involved direct client management and case handling autonomously.Background in handling significant transactional matters related to energy storage and gas procurement.Interest and capability in contributing to business development with new and existing clients.Leader with collaborative spirit who is able to work effectively in team settings.A strong desire to progress to a partner role within a defined time frame.Skills: Exceptional legal writing and research skills.Strong organizational and project management skills.Effective negotiation and influence skills.Capability to handle high-pressure situations and tight deadlines.Advanced interpersonal and public speaking skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research platforms such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.Benefits: Competitive salary and bonus structure.Health, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) plan with firm matching.Generous paid time off and parental leave policies.Opportunities for professional growth and development.Supportive work environment and commitment to work-life balance.
