Position Title: Engineer I Job Group: Professional & Scientific Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree Preferred Qualifications: Experience operating lathes, mills, CNC machines and/or general shop tools. Experience with mechatronics, electrical equipment, data acquisition equipment, robotics, and/or 3D printers. Experience with welding and casting/foundry. Experience with CMM and/or metrology equipment. Job Description: The Department of Mechanical Engineering seeks an Engineer I to design and fabricate research equipment and system add-ons to change conceptual research applications to tangible results. Our state-of-the-art teaching labs, studios, and classrooms have been newly designed to empower creativity and collaboration at every level.
Example of Duties Prototypes, develops, and refines mechanical and electrical equipment based experiments to explore advanced level engineering concepts and applications. Provide consulting services (advice, designs, cost estimates and installation help) to faculty, graduate researchers, undergraduate students and student organizations. Needs to have an understanding of engineering concepts to provide consulting services to engineering faculty, engineering graduate and undergraduate students. Manages equipment used for both research and teaching. Scheduling usage, optimizing student flow through. Design electrical and mechanical equipment setups and experiments that allow students to explore engineering principals relating to the teaching labs. Supervise the set-up and maintenance of teaching laboratory equipment including lathes, mills, 3D printers, mechatronics, electrical equipment, welding, general shop tools, data acquisition equipment, CNC machines, casting/foundry, robotics, CMM and metrology equipment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
