Maritime Operations within Mission Technologies - Nuclear & Environmental Services, is looking for an Engineer Test Operations 1 to join the team in Newport News, VA.

Test Engineers in the Nuclear Maritime Operations group support a wide variety of different functional areas at Newport News Shipyard (NNS). At NNS, HII builds the most advanced ships in the world, nuclear powered Aircraft Carriers and Submarines, and our engineers are integral in that effort. Test Engineers support the development of new technologies, the proper implementation of systems and components, and the help ensure safe operation of those systems and components throughout the intended lifespan.

What You Will Do Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis. What You Must Have Candidate must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and 0 years of relevant professional/exempt experience. Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program is required prior to starting employment. Candidate must have experience utilizing industry-current Engineering design and analytical or modeling software. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Candidate must be a U.S. citizen. Bonus Points For ... Knowledge of nuclear and radiation safety principles. Completion of an internship. Physical Requirements

Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
