Engineering Maintenance Journeyman 1C Primary Responsibilities: Does maintenance, repair and installation of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, architectural and structural systems and equipment throughout the resort. Lead, advise, train and perform all duties of personnel in lower grade positions. Originate purchase requests and maintain adequate stock of their trade. Able to make independent decisions on general maintenance and repair work. Perform maintenance, servicing, installation and inspection of all equipment of the trade in which journeyman status is held. Research and order parts and materials. May cross train to have working knowledge in other trades. Direct and train lower graded personnel under his field or scope of work. Communicate with vendor(s) and manufacturer to troubleshoot and order needed products and parts. Complete work assignments in a timely manner. Follow safety procedures and standards. Care and clean tools and equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned or required. Other Duties: Keep work area and maintenance shop clean and orderly. Assist other engineers as required. Working Conditions: Works in various areas throughout the hotel; guest rooms, offices, public areas, kitchens, storerooms, etc. May work in small cramped areas, with no air conditioning or limited ventilation. May work in refrigerated area or equipment. May work in high or elevated areas. Work Hours: Ability to work shifts and days designated by the Director of Engineering/Assistant/supervisor or coordinator. Must be able to work in excess of 40 hours per week. Equipment Use: Ability to use the telephone and radio. Ability to use various office equipment including calculators, photocopiers and facsimile machines. Ability to use repair and maintenance tools and equipment. Mental and Physical Demands: Ability to prioritize and organize workload to ensure deadlines are met. Able to manage stressful and challenging situations. Able to stand and walk during most of the shift. Able to bend, squat, stoop, lay down, reach, climb ladders. Lift/carry and push/pull up to and over 50 lbs. Able to delegate work assignments and lead and direct a crew. Communication Demands: Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to employees, managers, vendors and guests/clients. Ability to communicate over the phone or by radio. 2 year college or 3 years related work experience. Maintenance specialty certificate or license. Able to read and understand blueprints, technical manuals, work orders, written instructions, etc. Ability to multi-task. Driver's License when operating vehicle.
