Engineering Manager, Consumer Safety

The Consumer Safety team's mission is to empower users with tools that impact their experience on Reddit, allowing them to have safer experiences and providing them the flexibility to define what "safe" means for them.Some of our present and future work include:Building new and more powerful safety and reporting tools that better meet the needs of RedditorsModernizing and scaling existing tools to serve all Redditors globallyWorking across teams to ensure initiatives are greater than the sum of their partsEmpowering users with their own safety tools and content controls on Reddit - blocking, reporting, muting, etcWhat You'll Do:Work with cross-functional partners to develop, drive and execute a long term vision and strategy for Consumer SafetyWork with partners from product, design, data science, and other engineering managers to plan and execute on short and long term goalsParticipate in the full development cycle: design, development, test, experimentation, and launchSupport a high-caliber full stack product team of backend, frontend, and mobile engineersCoach and mentor engineers on the team to further their professional developmentSet and enable a culture of metrics led execution, with efficient processes and strong levels of transparencySet goals and targets for your team and establish a culture of focusing on impactWhat we are looking for:2+ years experience in managing a team of software engineers5+ years of experience developing large-scale distributed software applications (preferably products for end users)Experience building and cultivating high performing teams, through hiring, performance managing, and professional developmentStrong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on scheduleResults-oriented with a strong customer and business focusEntrepreneurial and self-directed, demonstrated ability to innovate and bias toward action in fast-paced environmentsAbility to communicate and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiencesHigh empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to find compromise working across the entire engineering orgBenefits:Comprehensive Healthcare Benefits401k MatchingWorkspace benefits for your home officePersonal & Professional development fundsFamily Planning SupportFlexible Vacation & Reddit Global Wellness Days4+ months paid Parental LeavePaid Volunteer time off#LI-Hybrid #LI-JD3
