SUMMARY:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of the hotel and its facilities, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
They prioritize, plan, schedule, assign, and supervise the engineering department staff.
They also oversee maintenance tasks, work orders, and special projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
The Engineering Manager responds to guest's maintenance needs promptly and ensures guests receive professional, efficient, prompt, and courteous service to hotel standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise the Engineering employees and Supervisors; interview, schedule, train, develop, coach, and counsel, provide open communications, and make recommendations to performance reviews. Prioritize service requests; schedule and monitor the service performed to ensure customer satisfaction, safety, and convenience for event spaces, nightclubs, restaurants, aquatic facilities, and public spaces. Test and examine the life safety systems to ensure they are always 100% operational to protect the assets, guests, and employees. Monitor utility consumption to determine the effectiveness of current systems. Review purchase requests by engineering staff and monitor expenses to ensure budgeted goals are met/exceeded. Assist in the administration of the department by preparing and maintaining schedules, logs, records, or other documentation to ensure a smooth operation and minimize liabilities. Maximize maintenance team potential with a balanced focus on operations, guests, employees, and owners' satisfaction. Perform other duties as requested by management.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 3 years combined experience in a hotel property of similar size and quality. Requires advanced knowledge of the Building Management/Engineering profession, and software such as OnQ, Alice, Kipsu, Hotel Effectiveness, and Paycom.
Must be highly organized, and results-oriented, with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced, changing environment. Fluency in job-related English both verbal and non-verbal. Ability to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends if necessary. Possess effective communication skills, and a clear understanding of guest service in a hotel environment and demonstrate leadership abilities. Ability to handle pressure and work in a fast-paced environment. Excellent management and leadership skills.
Assist with annual budget and oversee administration of inventory control programs.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish (preferred). Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures.
This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms. Proficiency in effectively presenting information and responding to questions from staff and vendors.
REASONING ABILITY: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, associates, and external partners. Ability to work well under pressure and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
