Job Summary
Work Shift
1 - First Shift The Engineering Technician II produces, tests, and operates prototype machinery. This position suggests improvements to current production models or possible new prototypes. A level of mastery including competency and experience demonstrating both practical and theoretical understanding of most or all listed skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Exhibit the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors.
2. Create prototype and/or new parts for existing machines.
3. Lead the testing on various machines.
4. Lead machines through production implementation in the following departments: Machine Shop, Welding, Paint and Assembly.
5. Assist Marketing, Service, and Sales as required.
6. Organize, inspect, and check in parts for Engineering.
7. Lead a safe work environment in building, operating, and testing prototypes.
8. Document and record test reports, project challenges and all changes to the machines.
9. Communicate and develop concepts for new and unique ideas to improve Vermeer products.
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma required. Associate's degree from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program in design technology, computer science, industrial systems technology, or related field is preferred. Minimum 5 years previous Mechanical, Agricultural, or technician experience and/or job training; and/or combination of education and experience required. Other Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding of design guidelines and electrical and hydraulic standards, along with the ability to teach the skills. Demonstrate detailed knowledge operating company products and customer experience expectations for those products. Demonstrate detailed knowledge to safely operate tools and complete assigned processes. Understanding of equipment operation: AG tractor, loader, CDL, etc. Experience with computer equipment including report writing, data gathering, testing and diagnostics. Demonstrate detailed knowledge in the areas of diagnostics and trouble shooting. Provides technical support to go customer/dealer facing in the event of field related issues arise both from a machine health and applications perspective. Demonstrate detailed knowledge testing products for functions and operation level limits, including customer use or application expectations. Ability to build positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness with customers and co-workers. Ability to communicate input in a constructive way to alter and improve output of other areas. Ability to proofread others documents and communicate feedback. Demonstration of excellent verbal and written communication skills. Essential Functions
