About Us We are a company builder called Prufrock Ventures. Our founding team has worked together for years. We've built and sold businesses, taking ideas from PPT to customers to acquisition. Prior to our exits, we've raised financing from Lightspeed, Khosla, GGV and other top venture funds. Many of us are ex-Amazon. We're a close knit group looking for superstars to join the team. Over the next five years we plan to build and scale a dozen companies. This is an opportunity to conceive, validate and launch many new products. It's an opportunity to learn from great builders and be on a fast path to building a company. About Role We're always looking for incredible people to join the team and launch a new company. Our Entrepreneur in Residence role is an opportunity to work with us for a period of time, explore businesses that we might build together and see if Prufrock is the right place for you to try something big and new. We launch new businesses in a variety of ways - sometimes we partner with an EIR when we're first exploring an idea. In this case, we're both equally inspired by a problem that needs solving. We share a unique point of view on how we might solve that problem with technology. We leverage the collective resources available at Prufrock across design, marketing, engineering, business development to test solutions and ultimately to bring a business to life. In other cases, we've already developed a business opportunity. We've already done lots and lots of research into the opportunity. We've tested the product with early customers. We have strong signals that there is a huge opportunity here and now we're looking for someone to scale the business.
About You Entrepreneurs in Residence have varied backgrounds and experience. Some of the important signals that the EIR role might be a match for you, include:
You operate as a founder in all you do where you are often the first to roll up your sleeves and get into the trenches of validating an opportunity.
You're deeply curious and love creating new things.
You're 'full stack' with lots of cross-functional expertise that enables you to execute incredibly quickly - often 10x faster than peers.
You have an enormous bias for action and sense of ownership in your work.
You've been incredibly successful professionally with lots of examples where you've accomplished the near impossible.
You're driven by a desire to solve problems.
You're deeply focused on the customer and using customer feedback to drive business strategy and product decisions.
You're incredibly likable and low ego with a high EQ.
You build a lot of trust with team members, investors, and customers.
Many EIRs also have deep domain expertise in the problem area where they're building solutions, although this is not necessarily a requirement.
You can be located anywhere, but strong preference for New York or Bay Area. Next Steps If this sounds like you, please get in touch! Share your background with us here. We'll reach out. Thank you for reading!
