Description: The Lab Technician that is responsible for preparing samples and conducting tests for various analyses. This position will operate laboratory equipment such as grinding ball mills, gravity and flotation machines, balances, pH meters, hand titrations using various chemicals, and will maintain daily records and logs as well as perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Job Duties: Following all health and safety rules and regulations Maintaining a clean work area Testing may include: Sample Preparation – RC and drill core, soils, concentrates and carbon, bulk samples Comminution Testing Crusher Work Index Abrasion Index Ball Mill Work Index Rod Mill Work Index Gravity Separation – precious and base metals Flotation – precious and base metals Leach Testing – bench scale through pilot scale, including Heap Leach Testing – cyanide and alternative lixiviants (precious metals) and acid (base metals) Milling – Leach Testing – cyanide, alternative lixiviants and acid CIL, CIP, RIL, and RIP Testing CCD Testing Bio-oxidation and bio-leach testing – bench through pilot scale Solution Recovery Testing Environmental and mine characterization services NDEP monitoring compliance Leached heap neutralization rinse down testing Kinetic ARD potential testing Pit water quality evaluation Pit dewatering Soil attenuation/mobilization studies for land application of mine solutions Passive and active wastewater treatment Leached heap amendment and revegetation studies Analytical services Qualifications and Skills: High School Diploma or equivalent Employee must be able to follow specific directions, work in a safe manner, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records without constant supervision Ability to work with others in a team environment Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Perform routine maintenance on equipment that is within your scope and abilities Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, respirator and background check A positive attitude towards safety regulations and production and quality goals Able to comply with all company policies About Actalent Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
