Job Summary:
The Material Handler/Saw Operator is responsible for handling and moving materials efficiently within the warehouse or production area.
This role involves operating various types of saws to cut materials to specified dimensions and ensuring that materials are stored and organized according to safety and inventory control practices.
The position requires attention to detail, precision in measurements, and adherence to safety protocols.
Duties/Responsibilities: Material Handling: Safely and efficiently load, unload, and move materials throughout the warehouse or production area.
Organize materials in designated areas, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
Assist in inventory management, including counting, recording, and reporting inventory levels.
Saw Operation: Operate saws (such as band saws, table saws, circular saws, etc.)
to cut metal according to specified dimensions and tolerances.
Interpret job orders to determine material specifications and dimensions.
Ensure the accuracy of cuts and maintain quality control standards.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of saws and other equipment to ensure they are in good working order.
Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and injuries.
Comply with company policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
Other Duties: Assist with other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills/Abilities: Proficiency in operating saws and other cutting equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Strong attention to detail and precision in measurements.
Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
Basic math skills, including measurements and conversions.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is a plus.
Previous experience in material handling/saw operation preferred.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, feel/reach with hands/arms, and talk to hear.
The employee frequently is required to sit and walk.
The employee is occasionally required to bend and stop, push and pull, reach above shoulder level, kneel, squat, or crouch.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
