Basic Job Functions: The environmental engineer will be responsible for leading the safety, sustainability, and environmental compliance at the division. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining compliance with all safety and environmental requirements, implementing, and managing environmental programs (air, water, waste, radiation) including permitting and reporting. This individual will also play an integral role in the education and training of the team, engaging with the plant wide team for solutions to problems and promote continual improvement, and participate in community outreach initiatives. This role includes managing an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, maintaining compliance with site SPCC plan, tracking on-site waste generation, waste disposal, recycling, and energy use, working with and building relationships with Environmental Regulators, overseeing contractors, conducting environmental projects, completing EPCRA/Form R regulatory reports, and interpreting environmental regulations. This position will require some travel. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, chemical engineering or related degree or equivalent years of applicable experience Preferred Qualifications: Experience in environmental compliance in a manufacturing or industrial environment Experience with implementation and maintenance of an ISO 14001 or equivalent EMS Experience in air pollution control operations, water treatment operations, hazardous waste, and radiation RCRA waste generation, storage, and proper disposal knowledge Experience with Title V and or NPDES permitting Geographically mobile for current or future career opportunities
