Nashville General Hospital is hiring for an Environmental Services Assistant Director for Environmental Services as a full time job in Nashville, Tennessee.
Shift: Day Shift
The Environmental Services Assistant Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Environmental Services Department. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to training, coaching and evaluating, directing team regarding departmental policies and procedures. The Assistant Director will ensure that patients have a safe and clean environment by providing the highest possible level of service. Must possess excellent communication skills including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all team members.
Environmental Services Assistant Director Roles & Responsibilities:
Establishes and annually reviews standards and work procedures for all housekeeping staff and Supervisors.
Conducts regular staff meetings and communicates with members of other departments to coordinate housekeeping activities.
Plans work and staffing schedules and areas of work to ensure adequate services are rendered.
Assists in the hiring process; interview, hiring and training of new associates.
Conducts regular inspections, attend weekly Environment of Care rounds and make recommendations to the facility as needed.
Conducts monthly reporting of goals and accomplishments.
Provides staff education and continuous training.
Ensures patient rooms, bathrooms, beds, IV poles, furniture are cleaned per EVS standards.
Ensures staff is completing all detail work, i.e.; high dusting, low dusting, cleaning corners, edges, hopper closets, external vents, window blinds, soap dispensers, outside of trash cans.
Ensures proper handling and disposal of regular trash and of Medical Waste / Chemo Waste, soiled linen and uses proper PPE.
Ensures outside of facility is maintained in a clean and attractive manner.
Maintains quality assessment records as required.
Investigates complaints regarding service and operation of department; and takes appropriate action, and maintains documentation.
Discipline associates when necessary according to progressive disciplinary guidelines.
Schedules major project work, assuring that adequate staff and supplies are available.
Conducts regular inventory of housekeeping supplies.
Assist Department Director with annual budget process.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
College degree or equivalent work experience required.
5 years of supervisory or managerial experience required.
3 years of Environmental Services experience required.
Experience in a healthcare facility setting is required.
Experience in housekeeping preferred.
Ability to lead and manage a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Organized and able to multitask.
High customer service and quality attitude.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Windows based office software.
