ACCOUNTABLE FOR: Maintains and upholds facility guidelines related to hospital and nursing home standards for cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
GENERAL PURPOSE AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Technician operates under the direction of the Environmental Services Supervisor (JHS) and performs all duties required of the Environmental Services Department.
Employee cooperates with clinical and non-clinical departments within the organization according to the standards of the department.
Entrances: Make rounds of building exterior and pick up all trash and debris.
All Entrances are to be checked and cleaned twice daily.
(First round should have been made by dayshift employee, second round by evening shift).
Emergency rooms: Clean ER rooms after all patient discharges.
Refer to Housekeeping guideline sheet.
To include but not limited to the following: change sheets; check and clean gurney mattress top and bottom, restock sheets, towels, gowns, and washcloths if necessary.
Nursing Station (Floor and Triage), Lab, Radiology, Registration Office, CT Trailor: check all areas for trash- empty if necessary, vacuum areas with carpet on Monday's, Wednesday's, and Friday's.
Lobby: Empty trash, vacuum on Monday's, Wednesday's, and Friday's, clean water fountain, clean patient restroom.
Break rooms: Empty trash, wipe down all counters and tables, clean sink, mop floor if necessary, wipe down cabinet doors and walls.
Housekeeping storage and supply rooms: All boxes to be broken down and disposed of when emptied daily.
Dirty mop heads and all other cleaning cloths to laundry daily.
Put all supplies in area marked for that supply.
JMH Patient rooms: Clean all patient rooms after patient discharge, refer to Housekeeping guideline sheet.
Laundry: Pick up all linen in hospital and nursing home, continue loads in washer and dryer as needed.
REQUIREMENTS: Education/Training Experience: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum related experience in housekeeping required.
Verbal and Written Communication Skills: Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
Interpersonal Skills: Relates cooperatively and constructively with all patients, guests, families, physicians, peers, and all healthcare members as well as anyone that JHS' employees interact with while performing their daily duties.
Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Moderate eye-hand coordination.
Essential Mental Abilities: Knowledgeable and competent to perform essential functions.
Must be able to deal with a variety of personalities with who the employer comes into contact with, both pleasant and irate.
Essential Sensory Requirements: Ability to visually and audibly perform all essential functions.
Essential Physical Requirements: Moderate to high amount of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, pulling, pushing, stooping, and kneeling.
Minimal lifting requirements of fifty (50) pounds.
Exposure to Hazards: Minimal exposure to infectious diseases, blood, and body fluids.
