Equity Research 
The Equity Research department is responsible for researching macroeconomic and microeconomic conditions, along with company fundamentals. It also collects and analyses financial information to make investment recommendations on stocks in specific sectors. Research analysts build financial models to explore alternative scenarios, examine industries and communicate with companies and investors. Equity Research team members discuss their analysis and investment recommendations in research notes. We are looking for an Analyst-levelor Associate-level to join our Life Science Toolsteam in New York, NY.

Responsibilities include:
- Support the Senior Analyst covering life science companies by conducting due diligence on the companies involved. 
- Responsible for preparing research reports for initiations of coverage, analysis of industry data, earnings results, and relevant news.
- Responsible for conducting physician conference calls and surveys to evaluate recent trends in the life sciences sector
- Attend relevant industry conferences to gather company specific data and conduct market research. 
- Build and maintain market models using industry data to forecast trends and project company revenues.
- Build and maintain financial models used to forecast sales and earnings growth for the companies under coverage along with a valuation and sensitivity analyses framework using both absolute (DCF) and relative methodologies. 
- Assist internal sales and trading teams and external clients in the timely analysis of breaking news in the life sciences sector coupled with communication of published research reports. 
Minimum experience required: 2+ years of financial services or corporate strategy/business development experience  - Investment Banking / M&A / Equity Research experience within Healthcare / Life Sciences preferred
- Knowledge of the Life Sciences industry as well as an understanding of the regulatory and reimbursement process
- 2+ years experience in building/maintaining Excel-based financial/valuation models - advanced level of Excel proficiency is required
- Candidates are expected to be adaptable and have the ability to work well under pressure in a sometimes-intense environment
- Should also be able to work independently to produce accurate, detailed materials while meeting tight deadlines. 
- Intellectual curiosity, a strong work ethic and a team player mentality are desired attributes. 

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $125,000 per year for Analyst, and between $150,000 and $200,000 per year for Associate, at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
