Description Brown Brothers Asphalt & Concrete is looking for an Estimator. Project Assessment: Thorough understanding and reading ability of plans, specs, and other related construction documents to generate material and labor takeoffs and bids. Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop a comprehensive understanding of project scope. Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather first-hand information from sites, warehouses, or other venues. Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services. Utilize industry-standard estimation software and tools for data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Develop quantity take-offs from project plans and specifications. Bid Preparation and Submission: Compile and submit competitive bids, ensuring all components of the estimate are included and clearly documented. Managing ITBs, downloading plans, reviewing specs, and filling out provided bid sheets. Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, bidding competitions, etc.
). Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing. Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or vendors. Generate RFIs and RFQs to general contractors, architects, engineers, and customers. Maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to facilitate accurate and timely bids. Risk Analysis and Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them. Perform risk analysis associated with the project. Incorporate contingencies into estimates to account for uncertainties. Collaboration and Communication: Attending any General Contractor, Architect, or Customer pre-bid meetings. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure alignment on project goals and requirements. Work with the sales team to prepare proposals. Conduct handoff meetings of projects to Project Managers/Superintendents. Provide consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs, etc.
). Communicate effectively with clients to clarify project details and address any questions or concerns. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of estimates, including assumptions, methodologies, and calculations. Occasionally generate and distribute change orders and submittals. Generate reports and summaries for management review and decision-making. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in construction estimation. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities. Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned by management. We offer:
Base Salary: $100,000 - $170,000 DOE
Commission: 3%
