Job SummaryThe Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning seeks an engaging, creative, strategic event planner. Reporting to the assistant dean for advancement, you will have responsibility for the planning and oversight of a portfolio of events such as commencement and homecoming activities, local and regional alumni events, donor related events, food and hospitality logistics for architecture program reviews, and college social events such as the welcome picnic, becoming alumni barbecue, holiday party, etc.
This hybrid job is situated in Ann Arbor and on-campus work is expected at least three days a week, with a few offsite weeks throughout the academic year and an offsite period from mid-May to mid-August.
Responsibilities*Work closely with the dean, faculty, staff, and others to conceive and execute high-level college events.Manage the scheduling, logistics, and budget of assigned portfolio of events, including date, location and venue selection, invitations, menu planning, audio-visual accommodations.Manage submission of all required materials to allow alumni to receive continuing education credits when attending regional events produced by the college.Responsible for marketing and public relations surrounding events to drive attendance.Build and administer the overall events budget of your portfolio, comprising both general and gift funds, execute reports and present data for informed event planning.Develop and use event feedback mechanisms, analyze data, and make recommendations for future events.Monitor event industry standards and stay current on university event policies and procedures.Maintain detailed records and reconcile expenses.Share information and provide back-up support to the lecture and symposium planner.Required Qualifications*Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years of professional event planning and event management experience.Proven ability to build and manage budgets.Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required and travel locally and nationally as needed.Modes of WorkPositions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.
Additional InformationThe salary range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge, and skills for the position. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor transparency throughout the recruiting process.
