Head Start California, a 501(c)(3) association, is seeking a new Events Director. We serve Head Start teachers, health professionals, and administrators who in turn serve our state's most poverty-stricken families. By joining the HSC team, you'll become part of a decades long movement to end the generational cycle of poverty with early education and interventions.
The Director will be responsible for planning and execution of approximately six annual events, ranging from 100 – 600 attendees each. The Director reports to the Executive Director and supervises the Engagement Coordinator and Event Intern. The Events Director is responsible for:

Event strategy and calendar development

Overall event project management
·
Site and vendor selection and contract management
·
Budget development and oversight
·
Conference content development
·
Volunteer and staff coordination
·
Event registration
·
Exhibitor, sponsor, and vendor support

Strategic event evaluation

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with changing deadlines

Strong facilitator with the ability to generate participation and enthusiasm
·
Ability to work well independently and with others in a team environment
·
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong negotiation skills
·
Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Asana, and event management platforms
·
Must have a current driver's license and be able to lift 40 lbs.
·
Ability and willingness to work some evening and weekend hours, including overnight travel
Ideal and required qualifications include:
·
An Associate's Degree or higher in Hospitality, Business, or similar relevant major
·
At least five years' experience in event management, preferably at a nonprofit association
·
CMP, CMM, or CAE preferred but not required
·
Bilingual preferred but not required
This is a full-time exempt position with an annual salary range of $85,000 – 90,000 and bonus eligibility. This position is primarily remote, with one partial day per week in our Sacramento office, plus in-office event preparation days as needed. HSC offers full benefits including medical, dental/vision, flex spending plan, 403(b) with automatic 4% company contribution, vacation, sick time, and holidays.
