Our assurance and risk professionals have diverse backgrounds including internal controls, consumer compliance, technology, operational risk, financial accounting, data analytics, and banking operations.  Most IAG team members hold at least one professional certification.Our audit teams align to key risk areas and business units to ensure IAG can provide comprehensive and risk-based audit coverage. In addition, IAG has a Professional Practices group responsible for managing audit operations, quality, and standards; regulatory relations; reporting; training and professional development; and key internal capabilities and technologies.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Band 45 Vice President, Audit Leader, U.S. and Retail Banking Services within the Internal Audit Group will have the following responsibilities:Drive cultural transformation in Internal Audit to effectively assess the Company's U.S. Retain Banking Services and the key governance activities of the American Express National Bank (AENB).Create and deliver an annual audit plan for the U.S. and Retail Banking Services business units using an integrated auditing approach that considers financial, operational, compliance, and technology risks, among others. This involves understanding both the Bank's and the Retail Banking Services' business strategy and ensuring that the IAG strategy is appropriately designed to evaluate the most salient risks associated with such strategy.Lead all audit engagement related to the governance of American Express National Bank, including related regulatory requirements (e.g., Regulation W & Affiliate Management, Regulation O - Insider Lending, Community Reinvestment Act, Strategic Planning). Lead all audit engagements related to U.S. consumer banking products, including deposit products (e.g., Amex Savings and American Express Rewards Checking), insurance products (e.g., embedded credit card insurance products), and partner offerings (e.g., Wealth Management solutions). Lead audit strategy and coordinate Internal Audit coverage of global new product coverage and OCC Heightened Standards requirements across the first and second lines of defense.  Perform annual assessment of compliance with the Heightened Standard. Set direction and provide oversight during the planning, execution, and reporting phases of all audit engagements in the assigned audit portfolio, including special advisory reviews; and ensure ongoing monitoring activities are effective in capturing existing, upcoming, and emerging risks.Manage a team of audit professionals to execute audit engagements, ongoing monitoring activities and validation of audit and regulatory findings in conformance with professional and department standards and within budgets and deadlines.Drive business and risk insights through the oversight and growth of a portfolio of audit analytics.Effectively coach, teach, mentor, and develop less experienced colleagues and co-sourced resources in geographically diverse locations across all aspects of their role, the audit and analytic lifecycle, audit methodology, best practices, and banking concepts and products (including associated risks and controls).Lead meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including the Company's regulators.Qualifications Subject matter expertise in auditing Bank governance and affiliate oversight, U.S. consumer banking products, new product development, and enterprise risk management principles at a major financial institution (12+ years of relevant audit experience)Advanced degree in Business Administration or Finance.CIA, CRMA, CPA, CFA certifications preferred.Proven ability to quickly identify the mission critical areas in an internal controls framework and prioritize work accordingly.Superior understanding and appreciation of regulatory, accounting, and financial industry guidance, best practices and emerging risks affecting the banking industry (inclusive of the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, crypto and digital currencies) and potential regulatory compliance implications.Experience with data analytic tools, data visualization, key risk indicators (KRIs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and scorecards/dashboards. Ability to break-down a complex problem into components, solve them using data analysis, process knowledge and risk/control knowledge, and communicate data analysis, issues and control recommendations with transparency and integrityStrong written and verbal communication skills that deliver quality, actionable and impactful feedback to management on potential control issues and solutions to close gaps. Significant experience interacting with U.S. regulatory examiners.Knowledge and experience in the application of control theory and professional auditing practices including the audit lifecycle.Work independently, within a team and across teams in a fast-paced environment to drive business results, utilizing related project management skills, employing creative thinking, and the ability to work on competing priorities.Proven ability to lead and manage multiple projects and provide developmental feedback across deliverables.Proven ability lead team members in a way that encourages, develops, and delivers results.Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
