Job Description Participant Accident Underwriting Specialist - Chubb Accident and Health Specific responsibilities include: Individual will own a book of Participant Accident/Special Risk business which includes growth goals for new business in addition to maintaining renewals.
Assist in achieving renewal retention plan by issuing timely renewal notices, working closely with the broker through the renewal life cycle, and providing timely updates. Underwriting duties will include risk analysis, developing and negotiating price/coverage/terms/conditions for all new business and renewals, quote delivery and policy issuance. Maintain underwriting discipline by complying with underwriting authority, guidelines, and directives. Ensure data and document repository systems are complete and accurate.
Individual will reside in the Home Office and serve as subject matter expert for Participant Accident/ Special Risk.
This includes handling large referrals, being a resource for assigned regional offices and training new underwriters.
Assist with onboarding new programs, including but not limited to: rate and plan development; portfolio management; managing policy issuance, premium collecting, premium reporting processes; reporting metrics to management. Partner with regional offices, actuarial, product development, and legal teams as necessary.
Assist Segment Lead with strategies as needed by creating and executing segment strategies for: growth, operational efficiencies, policy filings, forecast/planning, marketing and communications, etc.
Build strong relationships with producers.
Conduct monthly underwriter audits.
QualificationsFour-year college degree The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5-10 years of A&H underwriting experience, preferably with Participant Accident / Special Risk / Student Accident business Strong analytical skills with experience in evaluating large/complex underwriting risks as well as medical experience rating methodology.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility for one's actions and work product.
The candidate must have strong communication, organization, and negotiation skills.
Ability to work within a dynamic and challenging environment - handle multiple priorities - often under tight deadlines.
Travel as necessary to Chubb regional offices, distribution partners and clients.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
The pay range for the role is $101,000 to $172,000.
The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors.
This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
