Executive Associate Athletic Director - Chief Financial Officer

The primary purpose of this position is to provide strategic oversight, implementation, and management of the Georgia Tech Athletic Association's financial functions, procedures, and policies. This position provides financial and administrative oversight of the business operations. This position is expected to maintain a focus on continual process improvements to ensure operational efficiencies and sound financial practices. The position serves as a member of the department's senior leadership team and maintains collaborative decision-making authority regarding the organization's financial health. The CFO serves as a financial liaison to the Institute, conducts strategic financial analysis and advises the Executive Associate AD/Chief Operating Officer and the Director of Athletics about the financial implications of operational, capital, and other strategies for budgets totaling around $140 million annually as well as capital project budgets totaling over $150 million.
ResponsibilitiesMaintains and coordinates accurate and timely financial reporting, including full audited financials for the Georgia Tech Athletic Association as a stand-alone 501(c)3 organization as well as EADA and NCAA financial reports.Responsible for directing strategic matters as they relate to budget management and control. Create financial models to perform budget forecasting and complex financial analysis necessary for departmental decisions and strategic planning, including a variety of external revenue sources, both unrestricted and restricted, such as NCAA and Atlantic Coast Conference distributions, sponsorships, licensing, game guarantees, ticket sales and other event-related revenues, merchandise and concession commissions, gift contributions, etc.Advises the Executive Associate AD/Chief Operating Officer and the Director of Athletics in strategic financial decisions for an annual budget of approximately $140 million. Contributes to the development of financial presentations to the Georgia Tech Athletic Association Board of Trustees, Georgia Tech Foundation, Alexander Tharpe Club Board and other groups (as requested).Oversees performance of all financial responsibilities for Georgia Tech Athletics administration and sport programs, including developing, maintaining, analyzing, and ensuring accountability of budgets, financial planning and projections. Collaborates with and advises Athletics executive staff on all capital construction projects, with particular focus on identifying and directing resource allocations and project budget tracking. Ensures resources are allocated appropriately to address upkeep of equipment and facilities.Responsible for reporting forecasted results to the Executive Associate AD/Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Athletics and the Georgia Tech Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration in preparation of financial forecasts for the Georgia Tech Athletic Association Board.Ensures compliance with institutional control by following all University, NCAA, Conference, and Federal regulations, and embracing the highest standard of integrity and ethical behavior. Works proactively to mitigate internal and external audit risks.Supervises the administration of spending and expenditures for administrative and sport program units. Also serves as a member of the GTAA contracts committee which reviews all student-athlete revenue sharing agreements.Perform other duties as assigned.Educational RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Sports Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required ExperienceTen to twelve years job-related experience.
