The Stanford Technology Ventures Program (STVP) in the Department of Management Science and Engineering is a thriving hub of entrepreneurial activity for the School of Engineering and for Stanford University. STVP seeks an Executive Director who will partner with and be an exceptional leader to a diverse set of stakeholders to foster growth for the team and the center and showcase STVP as a world leader in this research and teaching space of technology entrepreneurship.
In this role, you will: Lead strategic planning for the center, including operations, budget, and programming.Develop outreach strategy related to program communications, development, partnerships and fundraising/funding. Identify external funding opportunities and write proposals and research grants. Develop and oversee strategic financial planning and sustainability for the center; monitor performance and ensure appropriate controls. Provide expert consultation related to program development, funding opportunities, or other specialty areas.Lead and oversee development, and evaluation of center programs in partnership with the department. Oversee analysis, reporting, and program improvements. Oversee the development and implementation of center program policies and procedures, ensuring they adhere to department, School, and University policy.Lead and mentor center staff, including professional development.Represent the center to the broader university, external community, and other stakeholders.Partner to oversee the administration of courses for the center.Partner with department leadership to ensure effective coordination, including attending leadership meetings.Education & Experience (Required): Advanced degree and five years of relevant experience in the area of specialization or combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience. For jobs with financial responsibilities, experience managing a budget and developing financial plans. Experience developing program partnerships and funding sources.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Required): Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources.Advanced oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in an area of specialization.Ability to oversee and direct staff.Ability to manage budgets and develop financial plans.Education & Experience (Desired): Doctoral degree and/or academic or business experience directly related to entrepreneurship or related field(s).Working Conditions: May travel locally.Occasional overnight travel may be required.Physical Requirements: Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasks.Occasionally use a telephone, writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.Rarely sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.Ability to use voice to present information/communicate with others.
