Full job description Saint Joseph Parenting Center, Inc. ("SJPC"), founded in 2009, is a nonsectarian, non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen families at risk of child abuse and neglect through parenting education and support. It has parenting centers in Stamford and Danbury and a satellite parenting center in Bridgeport.
SJPC is seeking an inspiring and visionary leader to serve as our next Executive Director. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES :
The Executive Director functions as the chief executive officer of Saint Joseph Parenting Center, responsible for steering the overall success of SJPC's mission with the support of a highly engaged Board of Directors. The Executive Director reports to the Board's chair.
As part of this mandate, the Executive Director is responsible for:
Leadership & Management:
1. Be the primary spokesperson at Board meetings and primary liaison between staff and the Board.
2. Ensure that the organization has a Board-approved, financially sustainable strategy which furthers the mission of SJPC.
3. Oversee program staff and volunteers in delivering high-quality parenting education and support for our enrolled parents and in providing case management at the individual parent level.
4. Oversee development and marketing staff in the organization's continuing efforts to obtain program funding through federal, state and local government grants, private foundations, fundraising events and individual donations.
5. Oversee finance and administration staff in maintaining proper books and records and ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
6. Oversee and promote a positive, multicultural work environment that attracts, motivates, and supports a diverse staff of top-quality personnel, with a particular emphasis on staff and volunteers who reflect the diversity of our client populations.
7. Promote and enhance SJPC's image by being active and visible in the community and by networking with governmental agencies, community partners, nonprofit funders and civic organizations.
8. Identify the operational systems needed for quality control, quality assurance and data management, with the assistance of SJPC's program, development and finance staff.
Funder Relationships, Development and Fundraising:
1. Accountable for major donor relationships and the building of new donor relationships.
2. Accountable for relationships with government agencies and private foundations.
3. Accountable for maintaining compliance, tracking progress and impact, and providing transparency & accountability for all Federal & State grants.
4. Oversee the planning and ensure the success of fundraising activities to support existing and future program operations.
5. Develop fundraising sources to support programming through donor and community outreach.
Infrastructure & Operations:
1. Ensure the delivery of high-quality services while managing for current and future growth
2. Accountable for effective systems to regularly evaluate program components and measure successes, and to effectively communicate the same to the Board, funders and other key stakeholders.
Budget & Finance:
1. Accountable for the financial status of the organization including developing long and short-range financial plans, monitoring the budget and ensuring sound financial controls are in place, working closely with the Finance Director.
2. Set financial priorities accurately to ensure the organization is operating in a manner that supports the needs of the program and staff.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: The Executive Director will be thoroughly committed to SJPC's mission. All candidates should have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:
Master's Degree preferred in social work, human services or nonprofit administration. Five or more years senior nonprofit management experience. Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting. Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector. Past success working with a board of directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships. Strong written and oral communication skills. Experience with public speaking. Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people. Transparent, mission-driven, self-directed, high integrity leadership. To strengthen families that are at risk of child abuse and neglect by providing parenting education and support.
SJPC is a community and resource center for parents. SJPC offers a multitude of different parenting classes for both moms and dads, an exclusive fatherhood program, and a women's support network. Saint Joseph Parenting Center's goal is to equip parents through education to change unhealthy parenting patterns and to foster healthy ones in an effort to decrease the incidence of child abuse and/or neglect. SJPC will provide parents of children, from birth to age twelve, with the knowledge and tools to be more caring and productive people, and members of society.
SJPC has 13 full-time and part-time staff, and 150+ volunteers who assist with parenting program delivery and support. In 2023, SJPC's operating budget was $1.6 million.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
