Job Description: Executive Director, Mills County Chamber of Commerce

Position Summary: The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the Mills County Chamber of Commerce and is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operations of the organization. This role involves working closely with the Board of Directors, chamber members, community leaders, and stakeholders to promote and enhance the economic well-being and quality of life in the community.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership and Strategic Planning – Develop and implement the strategic vision and goals of the Chamber of Commerce in alignment with the Board of Directors.
– Serve as the primary spokesperson for the chamber, representing its interests and promoting its mission.
– Provide visionary leadership to enhance the chamber's impact on the community and business environment.
Membership Development and Engagement – Implement strategies to recruit and retain chamber members, ensuring a growing and engaged membership base.
– Develop and manage programs and events that provide value to members and promote networking, professional development, and business growth.
– Maintain strong relationships with current and prospective members, understanding their needs and advocating on their behalf.
Financial Management and Fundraising – Oversee the financial health of the chamber, including budgeting, financial planning, and reporting to the Board of Directors.
– Identify and pursue fundraising opportunities, including sponsorships, grants, and partnerships to support the chamber's initiatives.
– Manage the chamber's financial resources efficiently and ensure compliance with all financial policies and regulations.
Community and Economic Development – Collaborate with local government, educational institutions, and community organizations to support local initiatives and improve the business climate.
– Act as a liaison between the business community and local, state, and federal government agencies.
– Advocate for policies and initiatives that support business growth and community development.
Operations and Administration – Oversee the day-to-day operations of the chamber, office administration, and program execution.
– Implement and execute chamber policies and procedures as approved by the Board of Directors.
– Ensure the effective use of technology and communication tools to support the chamber's operations and outreach.
Event Planning and Management – Plan, coordinate, and execute chamber events, including networking events, educational workshops, annual meetings, and community programs.
– Secure sponsorships and partnerships to support events and ensure their financial success.
– Evaluate the success of events and make recommendations for future improvements.
Qualifications – Experience in a leadership role
– Strong understanding of local business and economy.
– Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.
– Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
– Experience in event planning and execution.
– Proficiency in using technology and software tools for communication, marketing, and operations.
