Supervision Received: Reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Supervision Exercised: Supervises five (5) or fewer staff members.
Salary: $128,000.00 to $135,000.00 (salary commensurate with education and experience)
General Statement of Duties:
The Executive Director provides leadership, oversight, and management of the work of the Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs. The Executive Director will work collaboratively with members of the campus community, in particular faculty across all academic disciplines, to secure monetary awards from funding opportunities at the local, state, and federal levels which support the institutional mission and strategic priorities of Westfield State University.
Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to: Essential: Develop and implement strategic plans to maximize the Office's impact and generate new sources of funding.Cultivate productive relationships with public and private program offices and local, state, and federal agencies.Work collaboratively with principal investigators and stakeholders to showcase faculty research innovations.Ensure planning, submission, implementation, and reporting for funding opportunities.Monitor progress of projects supported by funding awards and provide timely communication to funding sources.Collaborate with colleagues in the Finance department to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.Oversee the successful completion of regular reviews of the Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs.Mentor and recognize employees in the Office and promote grants-centered collaborations.Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements: Required Qualifications: Master's degree or equivalent record of professional qualifications and achievementSubstantial experience in sponsored research administration in progressively responsible leadership rolesProficiency in the development and delivery of presentations and reports to a variety of stakeholdersExpert ability to represent Westfield State UniversityWell-honed supervisory and leadership skillsStrong problem-solving skillsProficiency in the use of office technologyPreferred Qualifications: Experience working in higher educationExperience working within union environmentsAdditional Information:
Salaries for current Westfield State University employees must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
